UK Politics Practice Test

PM stands for Prime Minister, the title used for the head of government in the UK. This person leads the governing party, chairs the Cabinet, sets government policy, and is responsible for running the country day to day. They’re usually the leader of the party with the most seats in the House of Commons after an election and must keep the Commons’ confidence to stay in office. The monarch formally appoints the Prime Minister, but this is done on the advice of party leadership and within constitutional conventions.

The other terms listed aren’t used to denote this role. Parliament Member isn’t the standard wording (we say Member of Parliament, or MP), and People’s Magistrate or Public Minister aren’t established UK political titles for the nation’s leadership.
